As an individual, you have basically two choices in your dental insurance: a pre-paid dental program, and an indemnity dental plan. For the pre-paid plan, you have no deductibles, no waiting periods, no claim forms, and no annual maximums. For one simple monthly fee, plus a modest per-visit fee, you receive a wide array of benefits.

The other choice for individuals is the indemnity dental plan, known as Aflac Dental. The benefits of the Aflac dental plan include automatic acceptance, coverage for preventative, basic, and major services, and the freedom to choose any dentist you'd like--including your current one--anywhere in Florida. The Aflac dental plan has three tiers of coverage, $1,000, $1,500, or $2,000. Each tier is a maximum calendar year benefit for all services rendered. A six month waiting period for basic services, or an 18 month waiting period for major services, will apply. A deductible will apply, however you only have to pay one deductible per calendar year for all classes of benefits.
